WSFS Bank to Formally Donate Building and Property to the People and Town of Wyoming, DE

 

WHAT:                        On Friday, February 1, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. ET, WSFS Bank representatives will formally donate its former Wyoming banking office to the people and Town of Wyoming, in a key handing ceremony that will be attended by Wyoming Mayor Frankie Dale Rife, and members of the Town Council and the local community.  The Mayor will receive the donation on behalf of the Town.

 

This will be WSFS’ second property donation in recent years to benefit the local community. In 2015, WSFS was proud to donate a property and house to the Central Delaware Habitat for Humanity that sits on an adjacent lot to the former branch building.  The house was renovated in 2018 with the help of the local community and WSFS volunteers and an $8,000 donation from WSFS Bank.

 

WHO:              WSFS Bank representatives will hand the key of its former Wyoming banking office to the Town of Wyoming Mayor Frankie Dale Rife in a formal donation presentation to the people and Town of Wyoming.

Yard Waste New Schedule

The trash company (Republic Services) has requested to change the pick-up dates for Yard Waste. They are not changing the overall service that they provide, just the dates of pick-up.  This change is to provide better service to our residents.  Yard waste pick-ups will remain on Tuesday’s, but will be moved to the opposite week that it is currently being picked up.  They have agreed to pick up yard waste every week until the end of January to assist in the transition.  Yard Waste pickup will be on Tuesday, January 15th (new week), January 22nd (current week), January 29th (new week), February 12th (new week) and every other Tuesday for the remainder of the year.  A new updated trash calendar is attached to this newsletter.

SOLICITATION OF CANDIDATES FOR WYOMING TOWN COUNCIL

 

MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 23, 2019

 

Positions Open:

  • Two (2) Council seats with a term of office of two (2) years (May 2019 to May 2021)

 

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. 21 years of age or older by the date of the election
  2. Citizen of the State of Delaware
  3. A qualified elector
  4. Resident of the Town of Wyoming for at least one (1) year prior to the election
  5. Good results of a criminal background check (no person having been convicted of a felony, of any crime involving moral turpitude, of any crime of dishonesty, or of any crime involving fraud, bribery, or embezzlement, will be qualified to run)

 

Procedure for filing:

Submit the following:

  1. Certificate of Intention for an office paying less than $1,000 per year or if you intend to receive and spend less than $2,000 in your campaign.
  2. Results of a criminal background check by the Delaware State Bureau of Investigation (739-2528)

Town Hall Closed for Christmas

The Wyoming Town Hall will be closed Monday, December 24, 2018 and Tuesday, December 25, 2018 for the Christmas holiday.  Normal business hours will resume on Wednesday, December 26, 2018.

CDBG Applications Being Accepted

Applications are now being accepted for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG).  If you are low income and need repairs to your home that you own within town limits, please contact Town Hall at 302-697-2966.
