Is it Recyclable?
Do you wonder if items are recyclable or not?
To reduce the confusion on what is acceptable to recycle in Delaware, DNREC’s Delaware Recycles program has launched a new search tool called Recyclopedia. The online tool allows anyone to easily search for an item that is no longer needed and provides a solution to properly dispose of it. Why is this tool so important? Residents and visitors often hear national and regional messaging that just doesn’t apply in Delaware. We have one recycling program for the entire state that is the same whether at home, at school, or at work. All items placed in recycling carts and dumpsters are taken to one facility in Delaware to be sorted and sent to market to be made into something new. The more residents recycle only acceptable items, the smoother and faster this process works. Haulers are often charged fees for loads with unacceptable items in them. These fees can then be passed on to you. Help save your money by using this great resource. Go to DE.gov/recycling and type an item in the search bar under Recyclopedia.
